I think every season is suitable for a holiday here, because the microclimate and particularly the fairy-like, surrounding scenery make them just perfect for a visit, anytime. The tour of the white villages of Andalusia of the provinces Cádiz, Ronda, Málaga is the favourite destination of the Spanish and not only. I chose to make it step by step, pardon, village by village, in a week in October.

1. Ronda is by far the most beautiful but also the most dramatic, being built on the edge of a canyon, it is surrounded by mountains and offer some dream views. It is one of the oldest Spanish settlements and it is here that the Moorish influences can still be seen in the palacete and the mosques. You can climb on the roof of the cathedral to see the little town from above, in all its splendor or go to the Arabic baths to relax for a few hours. It is truly a super romantic destination.

2. Arcos de la Frontera is a symbol-village of the tour, beautifully located on the mountains, with wonderful, old, narrow tiny streets and nicely ranged restaurants. As a matter of fact all the white houses are arranged in a kind of semicircle, on the rock, and the whole décor is scattered with Moorish elements (the whole area is full of them), baroque and mudejár ones, with fortified buildings and a basilica which is worth a visit. It has a rich history, being the capital Taifa del Arcos during the Muslim period.

3. Zahara de la Sierra – not far from Arcos there appears a village that beautifully unfolds from the foot of the hill, with the ruins of the castle high above, with the small, central square full of bars and cafés, with the gentle autumn light filtered in through the trees that border the street. It is well-known for celebrating Corpus Christi on Easter day, a kind of holiday that attracts lots of people and turns the little town into a magical spot.

4. Grazalema the one from the charming valley is wide and compact and offers a great variety of nice, little shops with local products. From here you can go for a walk in the natural park Sierra de Grazalema, go hiking or just admire the interesting, little churches and the multitude of museums with textile products.

5. Olvera seemed a tiny performance-village to me, with its unique view from the grandiose cathedral. It is in this place, too, that the houses seem to be drawn, making up a ladder, along with the religious monuments of a great artistic and architectural value.

6. Vejer de la Frontera stretches on 2 peaks –on one of them there is the old village with its idyllic, little streets, with the fortifications of the old fortress. It has been designated an artistic-historic site and the Arabic style, completed by the Andalusian one in the area is absolutely wow. The stunning panoramas, the castle dating back to the 11^th century, the old churches, all of them will make you fall in love …

7. Gaucín used to be and it still is an enclave devoted to the artists and poets, it is quite lovely and it has small squares with cafés, where I relished some sherry at dusk, close to the locals. It is colorful and fascinating and boasts some views over Gibraltar. The pinkish olive and almond trees make the scenery quite complete and in May the photographers and painters exhibit their works of art within a local festival.

8. Casares is the stereotype of the white, Andalusian village, with narrow, winding alleys, houses and steps in immaculate sheds. Full of original handicrafts, it is the most charming in the province of Málaga.

9. Bornos, with its castle and park and the amazing views over Sierra de Grazalema has a part which has been declared property of cultural interest. Palacio de los Ribera, a Rennaissance building, dating back to the 16^th century was built on the place of an old, fortified tower and it has some beautiful gardens, fountains, grottos and swimming-pools.
